People spend a lot of time chasing information.
We read books, listen to music, watch videos, ask questions, and collect advice, hoping the next answer will finally make everything click.
But information isn’t usually what changes us.
Understanding is.
The funny thing is, understanding rarely comes from hearing something for the first time.
Most of the time, it comes from living through something.
You’ve probably heard people say, “You can’t change other people.”
Maybe you nodded your head and agreed.
But one day, after trying everything to help someone who didn’t want to help themselves, you don’t just know it’s true anymore.
You understand it.
Those are two completely different things.
The same thing happens with heartbreak.
People tell you time heals.
You hear it over and over.
It sounds nice, but it doesn’t mean much until enough time passes and one day you realize you haven’t thought about that person all day.
The information didn’t change.
You did.
That’s what understanding does.
It takes something you’ve known for years and gives it a completely different meaning.
I think that’s why two people can hear the exact same advice and walk away with completely different lives.
One heard the words.
The other was finally ready to understand them.
Maybe that’s what growth really is.
Not collecting more information.
Just seeing old information through new eyes.
Because information fills your mind.
Understanding rewrites it.
