One of the greatest gifts we have is intuition.
It rarely arrives with certainty. It doesn’t demand attention or try to overpower logic. It simply whispers.
It’s the feeling in your chest when something isn’t right, even if you can’t explain why. It’s the unexplained sense of peace that washes over you when you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. It’s the hesitation before saying yes, or the pull toward something that makes no logical sense but somehow feels undeniably right.
The older I get, the more I realize that intuition isn’t mysterious. It’s recognition.
It’s the part of us that notices patterns long before our conscious mind can explain them.
When I look back at the biggest mistakes I’ve made, one thing is always true.
My intuition arrived first.
Every single time.
Sometimes it was a knot in my stomach that I dismissed because I didn’t want to seem dramatic. Sometimes it was a boundary I talked myself out of because I wanted to believe someone’s potential more than their actions. Sometimes it was a quiet thought that whispered, This isn’t for you, and I answered it with, Maybe I’m just overthinking.
I wasn’t overthinking.
I was overriding myself.
Every major regret in my life has one thing in common: my intuition introduced itself long before the consequences did.
But I can also remember the moments I trusted it.
The opportunities that made no sense on paper but changed my life.
The people I walked away from before they had the chance to hurt me more deeply.
The decisions that looked irrational to everyone else but eventually became the ones I was most grateful for.
That’s the beautiful thing about intuition.
It doesn’t promise an easy path.
It simply points toward an honest one.
We’ve been taught to gather more opinions, search for more evidence, and wait until every decision feels certain. Yet some of the most important choices we’ll ever make will never come with certainty. They’ll come with a quiet knowing that asks us to trust ourselves.
Maybe confidence isn’t having all the answers.
Maybe confidence is believing yourself when your inner voice speaks before your fear does.
Because I’ve realized something I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
I’ve never been blindsided by life.
I’ve only been blindsided by the moments I convinced myself not to believe what I already knew.
